Her Story
Textile Artist, Fashion Designer, social entrepreneur creative director Bhavini Parikh Has been working in the clothing industry since the past 29 years. Graduated from the SVT College of Home Science of the SNDT Women’s University as Home and Resource Management in the year 1987. In the year 1991, she started toys library, cooking classes and tuition classes, she also gave demonstration of napkin folding, ice cream stick frame making on TV "GHER BETHA” Guajarati programmed.
But the desire to do something creative was always there within her. Her journey started with working on TEXTILE SURFACE ORNAMANTATION, embroidery work for brands such as Leela Lace, Texport syndicate, Trikamdas & Bros.,Shagufta garments, Vira Enterprises, Shoppers Stop, AND Design etc where she helped in socio economic development of society by giving employment opportunities to women. she gave jobs and trained more than 1000 women living within her locality .
After working with them for so many years, She finally started her own clothing manufacturing company along with her husband "BN FASHION" wherein they would make garments for brands like Vira, Ethnicity, Handloom Emporium, Aari, Maaya Clothing Pvt. Ltd. During the production process, she realized a lot of waste fabric was produced and how so much fabric would go to waste. It was on seeing this plethora of fabric that she started making Garments, home furnishing etc which would be exhibited at exhibitions. She started thinking and researching about sustainable ethical fashion. Looking at a plethora of ‘Waste Fabric’ and seeing infinite opportunities was a kick starter. She said she wanted to explore this concept of what is considered ‘waste fabric’ and how we can use what is viable to reduce the amount of actual unusable waste created, all while maintaining a high design and production standard. In the last few years , she is totally focused on converting scrape from cutting floor to commercially viable products using environmental friendly up cycling and manufacturing methods.
